The collection consists of the formal and signed charter of consolidation that resulted in the establishment of B'nai B'rith,
San Francisco Lodge, Number 21 on May 8, 1922, newsletters, banners, scrapbooks, plaques, and awards. Most of these came from
Golden Gate Lodge, Number 2464. The collection also contains B'nai B'rith bulletins that San Francisco Lodge Number 21 published
in 1929, 1930, and 1941.

B'nai B'rith was founded in 1843 in New York. It is the oldest and largest Jewish service organization in the world with lodges
in countries around the world. B'nai B'rith, San Francisco Lodge, Number 21 is one of the San Francisco area lodges. It was
created on 8 May 1922 after six lodges consolidated. The lodges consolidated were: Ophir, Number 21 (originally organized
on 13 Aug. 1855); Wodir, Number 42 (originally organized on 20 Feb. 1860); Pacific, Number 48 (originally organized on 29
Nov. 1863); Montefiore, Number 51 (originally organized on 24 Mar. 1864); Golden Gate, Number 129 (originally organized on
5 May 1869); and Cremiceux, Number 325 (originally organized on 26 Jan. 1881). Later, California Lodge Number 163 merged with
Lodge Number 21. In the 1990s B'nai B'rith merged the other San Francisco lodges (Golden Gate Lodge, Number 2464 and Skyline
Unity Lodge, Number 273) with San Francisco Lodge, Number 21.
